My Wake Me Up scrub is a refreshing way to start your morning. With tea tree oil and eucalyptus oil, the scrub with having you awake and ready to start your morning fresh.
What you need:
4 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup solid coconut oil
1/2 cup almond oil
4 drops tea tree oil
6 drop eucalyptus oil
4 drops green food coloring (optional)
To a large glass bowl add sugar, coconut oil and almond oil stirring with a wooden spoon as you go. Next add the Eucalyptus oil and Tea Tree oil (you may add more Eucalyptus oil if you would like a stronger smell) until thoroughly combined. Add food coloring and stir until it is distributed evenly. Once the mixture is combined store it in an airtight container, I like to use Mason jars with the locking lids. This will be enough to fill two 16 ounce Maison jars.
Direction for use:
Using a scoop of plastic spoon, spoon a small portion of the scrub into your hand. Work scrub into skin in a circular motion. Rinse well with warm water. Wash area with regular body soap (don’t worry this won’t wash away all the oil and benefits of the scrub) and then apply your favorite lotion!
There are a few things to remember when making and using homemade body scrubs.
1. Only using a glass bowl and wooden spoon. This way you won’t get any chemical reactions from metal utensils.
2. Make sure you designate the bowl and spoon as “scrub” making supplies only or else you could end up with some perfumed tasting foods.
3. I keep my scrub on the seat in my walk in shower. Make sure to keep a plastic spoon or scoop in the jar with your scrub. This way you are not contaminating your scrub with bacteria each time you use therefore it should last longer.
4. Scrubs should last approximately 8-12 weeks. After this time the oils can start to go rancid so make sure to keep the lids on tight and use clean hands or scoops to get scrub out of container.
Good luck and have fun. Let me know if you decide to make your own and how it turns out!
